A Message from County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper
Greetings Erie County Residents, Visitors and Friends!
Erie County is pleased to applaud the numerous organizations, individuals, and participants that continue to make the Let’s Move Outside! Erie County Recreational Passport Project a tremendous success.
In 2011, Erie County signed on as a Let’s Move! County, supporting First Lady Michelle Obama’s national campaign to combat childhood obesity and create a healthy nation.
As a result of collaborative efforts, the Let’s Move Outside! Erie County Recreational Passport has grown into a countywide movement encouraging social and environmental changes that support healthy and active lifestyles. The infusion of art and history adds elements of fun and adventure while exploring the bustling landscape of Erie County.
The County of Erie is grateful to our community partners who have championed this project and created opportunities to influence healthy choices that empower our residents and visitors alike.
We are excited to announce that over 1,200 participants have registered and continue to compete in the Let’s Move Outside Erie County Recreational Passport Project Challenge! The competition runs through October 2014; however, you can enjoy fifteen recreational trails year round!
The Erie County Department of Health, an integral partner on the Let’s Move Outside! Erie County Recreational Passport Project, created a list of over 600 healthy and active recreational opportunities that are sure to engage all of levels of physical fitness. You may access these events, venues, and trails at www.letsmoveoutside.org .
Erie County has a rich history and a vibrant future. I believe some of our best days are just around the corner. Let’s continue to strive for the highest standard of community health and wellness as we move Erie County forward.
