Girl Scouts W PA Letterbox Trail
Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania, a LMO! Erie County Recreational Passport partner, has placed letterboxes along the trails. Letterboxing is an intriguing pastime combining artistic ability with “treasure-hunts” in parks, forests, and cities around the world. Participants seek out hidden letterboxes by cracking codes and following clues. The prize - an image from a miniature piece of art known as a rubber stamp which is usually a unique, hand-carved creation.
Letterboxers stamp their discoveries in a personal journal, then use their own rubber stamp, called a signature stamp, to stamp into the letterbox’s logbook.
For more information on Letterboxing and directions to find the hidden stamps on each of the passport trails, go to www.atlasquest.org or www.letterboxing.org. You will need to register at either site in order to retrieve the directions to each Letterbox.
Please note that letterboxes have not yet been placed along the five new trails in Lawrence Park, McKean, Albion, Greenfield Township and the West Branch French Creek Conservation Area. ...but they're working on it!
