Union City, once known as Miles Mills, was founded in 1789 by William Miles who developed the community as a market and industrial center.  Since then, the community has continued to expand, and today has much to offer residents and visitors. Union City has a charming, small town atmosphere with many historical and natural attractions. It is located at the junction of US Route 6 and State Highway 8.

While in Union City be sure to visit:

Union City Historical Society (11 South Main Street; T: 814.438.7573): The Historical Museum has three floors and a garage filled with items donated by the Union City community, including household goods, furniture, tools and many more interesting things made and used in the 1800s and 1900s.

Union City Art Center (17 North Main Street; T: 814.438.2925): Visit and purchase a unique gift from their collection of original artwork created by our UC High School art students and local artists.  Call for current hours.

Union City Dam (Off Route 97 on Middleton Road): If you’re planning a trip to Union City, why not include a stop at the Union City Dam?  The reservoir was completed in 1970 to control the frequent flooding of French Creek, and is located 3 miles west of Union City.  The area provides hikers, bird watchers and the novice naturalist with many natural wonders to discover and enjoy.
