4/24/2017 Dobbins Landing
Most residents of Erie are familiar with the Bayfront area, or have at least heard it here and there. How often do you drive by it? When is the last time you were there? The Bicentennial Tower is the perfect excuse to make a visit on your way home from work.
Dobbins Landing is a great place to park your car and enjoy the view of activity that happens on the Bayfront. Take a walk around and you’ll end up at the Bicentennial Tower in no time, which has several different observation decks on which you can see view the lake. The first one sits at 17 feet high, the second being 138 feet high- the view is great either way!
The tower does have functional hours which are listed in the link below. We highly recommend the second observation deck during sunset times- by far one of the best places to see our signature Erie sunsets. The first Sunday of every month is free of charge, other times there is a $4 charge to visit the top observation deck, but even then it’s worth it.
This local landmark gets passed up all the time, and that’s a shame. Anyone who frequents the landing can speak for its beautiful views and perfect picnic atmosphere at any time of day. This is another opportunity that is seasonal folks, so don’t miss out! Grab a loved one, a close friend, your dog, or get some alone time in while enjoying Dobbins Landing and the Bicentennial Tower on a warm summers evening. It’s also a great place to watch the fireworks that Waldameer puts on several times during summer months!
Remember to watch children closely if you make it a family event, it could be pretty easy to fall into the lake!
