5/12/2017 Goodell Gardens & Homestead

Earlier this year we published a post that brought attention to LEAF, the arboretum at Frontier Park.  Today we’d like to discuss with you a similar but independently interesting and beautiful location in Edinboro PA.

Goodell Gardens & Homestead is a non-profit arboretum and botanical garden that serves to provide education-oriented opportunities to the community.  The Garden is not only beautiful but holds historical relevance for Edinboro’s community as the Goodell family has owned it since 1876.  The Goodell family was also a key player in the foundation of Edinboro due to their involvement in local political developments, educational developments and early businesses.  The Garden is also historically significant from a horticultural perspective because of the diversity in the cultivated plant species that are present there.

Goodell Garden’s main focus is education which is represented in a number of ways.  They host Garden Sprouts Preschool, Tea Time Talks and even farmers markets.  You’ll be able to find something here that fits each person in your family, and most Edinboro residents drive by it every day! Be sure to stop by the next time you have a free moment and check out some of the local history, the wonderful environment is definitely an added bonus!

While you’re there keep in mind that this venue is available to rent for a number of different occasions, and you probably know someone who has taken advantage of the landscape for a special event.  The Garden is a very popular place to have wedding ceremonies, receptions, reunions and parties! The location is already gorgeous, making a perfect backdrop for your perfect day.  These rentals take place on limited dates so don’t miss out, and don’t forget about the event barn and cabin that can be included too!
